Thanks this tweak resolved my problem for a different app! Continue reading Fix missing indicator icons on Xubuntu. Then start the application and go to the Panel tab. After the first command: I was facing this problem too. The log files for those apps show successfully running, but they don’t appear in the system tray I don’t have command line to change the parameters for those apps so am stalled at this moment.

I was facing this problem too. There are some tools like Skype indicator, but I need a general solution for this problem so that I can add application icons to the system tray. I use the alternative Top Icons extension for Since I use Cairo-Dock as a launcher, I just changed all the launch commands for my apps that weren’t showing up to dbus-launch app-launch-command.
